PARIEJ WETLAND : PARIEJ BIRD SANCTUARY

Pariej wetland or Pariej Bird Sanctuary located in Gujarat near Kheda. Distance from ahmedabad is 60-70 km. Lots of natural attractions and wetlands area. There are lots area near forest department to be visited for birdwatchers. Best time to visit is December to April. I visited on January 12th. and found lots of species of tree birds and water birds. Here i attach some of my snaps for you. Birds i found are Black throated munia,Grey headed canary flycatcher, Red Avadavat, Red Breasted Flycatcher , Osprey, Ashy crown sparrow lark, Crested lark, Gull Billed tern, Purple swamphen, and the most i like Sarus Crane. The largest number of sarus crane is found here.

About Pariej Sanctuary or Pariej Lake :

• Pariej sanctuary is a small lake and wetland in kheda district.
• Pariej lake is birds paradise for bird watchers and birders.
• Both land and water birds are found here.
• Pariej lake surrounded by villages.
• Except Pariej lake you can go both road side for birding.
• Highest number of Sarus Crane in Gujarat found here.
• Raptors also in huge numbers found here.
• A beautiful Osprey i sited first time record shot for me.
• Best time to visit in winter November to March.

The way to Pariej wetland or Pariej Sanctuary or Pariej Lake is very beautiful from Ahmedabad. Both side of road small wetlands and farms so its a ideal place for birds. You can also visit both side of road and you will surely found good birds too. You can go for sunrise and sunset with Horizons with farms. I suggest you to reach before sunrise around 6 am. Early morning time is good for birds and also good raptors killing. 

Hovering of osprey. My first siting of Osprey and look what i get. A hovering Osprey want some food in Pariej wetland. 

A large number of sarus crane found in pariej wetland. Also some other spices of birds are found here so it  is good place to visit for birders for one day.
